Big comparison test on radfahren.de

“This lamp brings light into the darkness: The Büchel BLC 820 is a powerful battery headlight for a manageable price – and the test winner in the test field.” That is the verdict of Radfahren.de after their extensive test of 22 battery-powered headlights. We’re very happy!

Glossary

COB

“COB” stands for “Chip on Board”. “Chip” here means the small LED (light-emitting diode). This is applied directly to the “board” (see PCB – Printed circuit board) together with a few more LEDs. In the case of the Micro Lens COB, for example, there are 40 of them. This technology enables a modern light pattern design for rear lights.

LED

LED – “Light emitting diode”. It has now completely replaced the incandescent bulb. The advantages of the LED over the incandescent bulb are a much longer lifetime and robustness in the event of shocks. And all this at only about one tenth of the energy consumption.

PCB

PCB – “Printed circuit board” is a carrier of electronic components, such as capacitors, resistors, sensors and also LEDs. It is found in virtually every electronic device, including our bicycle lights. In dynamo front lights, for example, the capacitors for the stand light function are found on the PCB. In the case of rear lights, the sensor for the StopTech brake light function is located there, for example, as in our “Edge” brake light.

CDC

Cathodic dip coating (CDC) is an electrochemical coating method. The component to be coated (in our case: bicycle spokes) is immersed in an electrically conductive paint bath. After being exposed to an electrical voltage, paint particles are deposited on the component. The paint particles form a uniform paint film over the entire surface. The paint film increasingly insulates the component and ultimately stops the electrical attraction. After the paint layer has been applied, thermal treatment takes place in a specially designed curing oven. The resulting coating provides effective and long-lasting corrosion protection with high temperature and chemical resistance. It is scratch-resistant and safe against stone chipping. Various pre-treatments further improve the corrosion protection and create an excellent adhesion base for the CDC process.

In the industry, cathodic dip coating is considered one of the most efficient coating processes for metal surfaces. As the solvent is based on water and the paints are free of lead and zinc, this is a particularly environmentally friendly surface coating.

Economic history around the bike

Economic history around the bike

A company portrait on osthessen-news.de

“The economic landscape of eastern Hesse is full of surprises: In inconspicuous residential areas reside global players that are successful on the market worldwide. This is also the case with Büchel, a producer of bicycle parts since the 1920s and now active worldwide with more than 1,000 employees.” This is the introduction to the recently published company portrait on osthessen-news.de.

Committed for two decades

Committed for two decades

Today Patricia Ebert is an important member of the import department of Büchel GmbH & Co. Fahrzeugteilefabrik KG

The starting signal was given in 2001: Patricia Ebert joined us as a trainee in wholesale and foreign trade and completed her training with the “Best in the Profession 2004” award from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. As Patricia had already learned to appreciate team spirit, the working atmosphere and the opportunities for further training during her apprenticeship, she remained loyal to the company and has since been involved in the import department. From the beginning, Patricia Ebert accompanied the joint venture U-Star with our Chinese partner and today she is also employed in particular for the support of major customer projects. The management presented her with numerous congratulations and a gift.

Nightrider

Nightrider

Nightrider

Description

The luggage carrier with integrated rear light. Inspired by the automotive industry, the “Nightrider” is a novelty on the world market. It is equipped with a flush integrated LED strand. This design allows for a uniform light pattern, even in the smallest areas. The LED strand is integrated into the tube design, which gives the carrier and thus the entire bike a clean, modern look. In addition, the light is optimally protected against impacts and other external influences. The arrangement of the LED strand in the carrier is protected by patent.

The STOPTECH brake light function is a joint development with the Fraunhofer Institute in Dresden. The sensor technology, which detects the deceleration of the speed during the braking process, makes a connection to the braking system via cable superfluous.

Features

>> Luggage carrier with integrated rear light
>> Load capacity approx. 25 kg
>> Aluminium tube, 10 mm

>> COB LED Technology

>> StopTech brake light function

>> For E-Bikes 12 V

>> Approved for Germany

Micro Lens COB

Micro Lens COB StopTech

Micro Lens COB

Description

The COB (chip on board) LED technology allows luminous patterns that we know from cars. With the “Micro Lens COB” there is now also a battery rear light with such a light pattern and intelligent brake light function “StopTech”. The StVZO-approved light is mounted vertically or horizontally on the seat post and recharged via the USB-C charging socket.

Standard in cars and motorbikes, still rather the exception in bicycle lighting: the brake light. The intelligent brake light function “StopTech” makes cycling safer. A deceleration sensor causes all LEDs to light up brighter when the speed is reduced, thus clearly warning following road users. This technology is a joint development with the Fraunhofer Institute. By the way, it works like in a car: During the day, the rear light is not lit, only the brake indicator function is active. In the dark, at dusk or in subways, a brightness sensor then automatically activates the rear light.

Matching front light: Vail 100

>> intelligent brake indicator function Stop Tech

>> COB LED Technology

>> USB-C charging socket

>> Li-Poly battery (710 mAh)

>> Attachment to any seat post

Despite its small size, the “Nano” offers strong luminosity and thus ensures optimum visibility and safety in road traffic.

The rear light is mounted inconspicuously on the mudguard, which not only ensures a clean look, but also does not restrict the functionality of the bike in any way. It goes without saying that the “Nano” is approved in accordance with the strict requirements of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), so that you are always safe and compliant on the road.
